Keep Your Vehicle in Good Shape with a Regular Tune-up

Your vehicle engine comprises many parts that work exceptionally hard. One of the main reasons to have a regular tune-up is to make sure that all these moving parts are running exactly as they should. The owner’s manual should state how often the manufacturer recommends a tune-up. As a rule, it should be scheduled for every 30,000 miles or every two years.
During a comprehensive auto tune-up, the technician performs many tasks. A thorough inspection of your vehicle will reveal if there are any worn parts that need replacing. Spark plugs and wires, the ignition rotor and distributor cap, fuel and air filters are parts that often need replacing.
In addition to tuning up the engine, the auto technician will also:
- Check and adjust the valves. If any oil leaks are detected, the valve cover gasket may need replacing.
- Check all fluids – oil, brake, transmission and radiator.
- Service the battery and check the terminals for any corrosion. He or she will also assess the condition of the cables.
- Inspect the tread depth on your tires.
- Change the windshield wiper blades if necessary.
By replacing these parts, you can avoid common problems with engine-starting, idling and breakdowns. Your vehicle’s harmful fuel emissions will also be greatly reduced and you should notice a huge difference in its power, fuel consumption and overall performance.
If your car or truck is running sluggishly, chances are it needs a tune-up.
