You’ve gotten to the point when your tires are balding, or perhaps you got a flat tire, and you are wondering which tire brands are the best. Surely you’ve heard several tire brand names thrown out there, from Bridgestone, Cooper, Doral, and El Dorado to Firestone, Goodyear, Hercules, Kumho, Maxxis, Michelin, National, Nitto, Nokian, and more, and you often wondered, what’s the difference? Does the tire brand you choose really matter? Can’t I just get the cheapest ones and get back on the road? Well, you most certainly can, but you must remember that you are probably getting exactly what you pay for.
Brand-name tires are often more expensive because they do have the brand name, but you also have to remember that these large tire companies have to back their product to stay in business. If they are guaranteeing a great product, it might be worth it for you to go with a slightly more expensive product from a brand you know that has good reviews.
Also, ask about warranty. Good tires are going to have a good warranty, showing that they trust their products to get the job done and last at least the length on the warranty. So while choosing your tire brands, remember to not pay too little, as you will get cheap tires that may not last you long, but also don’t pay too much. Take the time to compare tire brands and see what’s going to offer you the best for your vehicle needs.
When buying tires, not only do you want to think about tire brands, but you also have to decide if you want all the tires the same. If you want new tires, you should always get at least 2 new tires and rotate the 2 old ones. Or you can buy a full set of 4 new tires. But do not buy just one tire or 3 tires if you can avoid it. Occasionally, you will have to buy just one tire (in the case of a flat that can’t be repaired, but the other 3 tires are still in good condition, for example), but if so, try to find one that is the same brand and matches your other tires as closely as possible. It is best to keep the front tires or back tires in balance with each other in terms of age, wear, and brand.
