Different Brakes and Brake Systems for the Modern Vehicle

There are two main types of brake systems in use in modern vehicles: drum brakes and disc brakes. Both systems use friction applied to the moving parts of the wheel in order to slow it down, and in the process, convert the kinetic energy to thermal. The two systems are best explained with visual aids, as in the following videos.
