Brakes Cannot Function Safely or Efficiently Without Brake Fluid

The most important safety feature on any type of vehicle is the braking system. Many drivers take their brakes for granted, assuming that the car will just keep going without regular maintenance checks. The truth is that, without care and precautions, the likelihood of brake failure rises, and the consequences could be tragic.

When brakes fail due to insufficient maintenance, a dangerous accident can threaten the lives of passengers, drivers, pedestrians and anyone else who happens to be in the vicinity. One of the best ways to keep brakes in peak condition is to have them regularly checked, and flush or replenish the brake fluid.

Brake fluid plays a critical role because it absorbs the force you create when you press the brake pedal onto the wheel hub. During braking, heat is generated – particularly under prolonged or heavy braking. This can affect the brake fluid because it can’t work properly if it becomes too hot. If the temperature exceeds boiling point, the fluid forms vapor bubbles that impede the braking system. The brakes could fail.

Also, brake fluid acts as a lubricant for all the movable components in the braking system, to prevent corrosion. The fluid must be compatible with the vehicle’s hoses and rubber seals to ensure that the brakes perform optimally and last longer.

If brake fluid attracts too much moisture from the environment, it deteriorates and loses its efficacy. This can cause the components to rust, and can compromise your safety. The best way to avoid hazards and increase the safety of you and your loved ones is to have your brake fluid checked regularly.
