1. Change the oil: Failing to change the oil in your vehicle can lead to a lot of engine-related problems. Don’t delay getting rid of the old, dirty oil. The engine can overheat from lack of lubrication from the oil, so you’ll want to make sure you’re driving with fresh, clean oil.
2. Rotate tires: Tires wear down after so many miles, but you can extend the life of your tires by rotating them. When you rotate your tires, you reposition the tire so the tread wear can be spread evenly.
3. Inspect the belts: The timing belt in your car helps keep the engine running. This part needs to be replaced somewhere between 60,000 to 100,000 miles of use. It is essential that you stay on top of replacing the timing belt before it wears out, because if it breaks, then your engine won’t work anymore.
4. Listen to the brakes: Do you hear a screeching noise every time you back up or press on the brakes? It’s probably time to replace your brake pads. If these pads get too thin, the braking system is more at risk of overheating.
5. Check the fluids: Like the rest of the parts mentioned in the other car care tips, fluids play an important role in your vehicle. You’ve got fluids for power steering, transmission, brakes, and more. These fluids in your car lubricate essential parts of the vehicle. Without the fluids, you might have to face broken-down parts that get expensive.
