• Vehicle Loads – If you routinely transport heavy items in your vehicle, the tires have to do more work and thus will not last as long. This is particularly true if you put all the weight in just one area, which will wear the tires more unevenly.
• Inflation – Over or under-inflating your vehicle’s tires can have an adverse effect on how long they will last for you. If you notice that the tread is wearing more in the middle of the tire or along the edges, inflation mistakes are likely to blame. It can also be hazardous to not have the inflation right, as you could hydroplane due to less tread contact with the road. • Rotation and Alignment – The best way to get the longest life out of tires is to perform tire rotations regularly and be sure your vehicle is properly aligned. Misalignment results in excessive wear on one part of the tires.
• Environment – The environment your vehicle is in dictates longevity of tires, as well. For example, tires that spend a lot of time in heat and humidity can develop dry rot and other problems even if they are rarely driven. Other factors such as driving off-road and by construction sites can also result in tire damage.
