If you are like most people, you have heard of a few of the tire brands that are available, such as Michelin, BFGoodrich, Bridgestone and Goodyear. These companies have been around for a very long time and have developed a reputation for reliability. There are also plenty of lesser-known tire brands that are worth taking a look at when you are shopping for new tires for your vehicle.

1. Cooper Tires – Cooper Tires is celebrating its 100^th year in 2014 and is well known for their safety record. They offer performance, passenger, light truck, sport utility, winter and commercial tires.
2. El Dorado Tires – They were founded in 1966 as a member-owned private brand tire company. They offer passenger, performance, SUV/light truck, winter, and trailer/ATV/lawn tires.
3. Hercules Tires – Hercules was founded about 60 years ago. Their corporate office is in Findlay, Ohio, and they are the largest independent tire exporter in North America.
4. Kumho Tires – They have over 50 years of experience and began in South Korea, but have grown to become the 9^th largest tire manufacturer in the world.
5. Maxxis Tires – Maxxis is known for their extreme off-road and competition tires. They also have Moto/ATV and bicycle tires. They have locations around the world.
6. National Tires – National brand tires have been recognized as a leading private brand since 1935. They offer passenger, LT/SUV, ST trailer, commercial, medium truck, farm, lawn & garden, OTR, industrial and tubes. You can also get roadside tire assistance on National brand tires.
7. Nitto Tires – Nitto was founded in 1949 and focuses on combining modern aesthetics with cutting-edge technology. They deliver high-quality tires, such as various types of light truck tires, performance and high performance tires and D.O.T. compliant competition tires.
8. Nokian Tires – Their name is actually “Nokian Tyres” because they are a European company and use the global English spelling instead. They are well known in North America as a leading winter tire brand, but they also have a line of summer and all-season tires.
9. Pit Bull Tires – Pit Bull Tires was founded in 1994 as the motorsports division of Tire Mart, Inc., their parent company which has been in the same family for almost 70 years.
10. Sumitomo Tires – An American company with roots in Japan that incorporates the Sumitomo’s igeta symbol because it represents the freshness in spirit and substance that they hold true for their company.
